Small Groups
CCH offers several different staff-taught Bible studies throughout the week. Below are the descriptions of small groups being offered this semester.
Spring Semester 2012
Core Biblical Truths
Taught by: David Sowers
What do you believe about your faith? Do you know what the Bible teaches about basic truths such as the nature of God, the nature of man, sin, grace, and Jesus Christ? This small group study will help you understand your Christian faith and teach it to others. On the other hand, if you're not a Christian but searching for God, this is a good opportunity to learn more about what God has said.
Times: Wednesdays at 11am, Small group room 2
Thursdays at 3pm, Small group room 1
Core Christian Beliefs
Taught by: David Sowers
This will be a continuation from last semester, covering topics similar to those in Core Biblical Truths, but in further detail.
Times: Thursdays at 12:45pm, Small group room 2
The Truth Project
Taught by: David Sowers
Most Christians today don't have a Biblical worldview. Do you? Here's a chance to find out. The Truth Project will help you look at the world from a Biblical perspective, from God's viewpoint.
Times: Wednesdays at 5pm, Small group room 2
Experiencing God
Taught by: Lance Tamerius
This is a study based on the modern classic work of Henry Blackaby. By looking deeply at God's Word we find several Scriptural realities that help us to discover the will of God based on His character. Experiencing God wrestles with seven scriptural realities that teach us how to develop a true relationship with the Creator. By understanding how God is working through us even as we try to fathom His ways, we can being to clearly know and do His will and discover our lives greatly and gracefully changed.
Times: Tuesdays at 12pm, Small group room 2
Thursdays at 4pm, Small group room 2
Discipleship 101
Taught by: Joe Belzer
So much of the Christian life is taught in relationship. That is why Jesus took 12 and walked/talked/worked alongside them for the 3 years of His ministry. They learned how to pray...how to listen to the Father...how to serve—all in the context of relationship. This small group is designed to help you learn the deeper things of Christ—in relationship. Each week there will be a challenge to complete. Hope you are up for the journey!
Times: Tuesdays at 9:30am, Small group room 2
Wednesdays at 2pm, Small group room 2
Discipleship 201
Taught by: Joe Belzer
Jesus called us not only to “plug into the vine”, but also to be intentional in the way that we invest Kingdom values into the lives of others. It seems strategic that His final words were to “go and make disciples of every nation.” In this class, we will build on what we put into practice with Discipleship 101—to now move to invest in the lives of others.
Times: Tuesdays at 11am, Small group room 2
Thursdays at 3:30pm, Small group room 2
Her Name Is Woman (Women only)
Taught by: Lydia Weideman
This series of studies will examine 13 ladies from scripture. These women were not so different from us today; they faced many of the same problems and temptations. We’ll discuss what place God had in these women’s lives and how it affected the choices they made.
We will be using “Her Name is Woman,” book one in the series, by Gien Karssen. This book will give us a fictional perspective of what life may have been like at the time period each woman was alive. We will then read the biblical account, discuss, and do some volunteer memory work.
Times: Tuesdays at 6:30pm, Small group room 1
Wednesday at 3:30pm, Small group room 1
How To Study The Bible (Women only)
Taught by: Lydia Weideman
Many of us would like to study our Bibles more, we just don’t know how. This class is designed to give you several different methods of studying the scriptures. We will be using Rick Warren’s Bible Study Methods. The purpose of this class is to teach you how to dig out riches of God’s Word for yourself. It does require some serious thinking, but the procedures are simple. Hopefully, this class will give you skills to bless you in a lifetime of personal Bible study.
Times: Wednesdays at 11:30am, Small group room 1
God in Everything (Women only)
Taught by: Becky Doran and Lydia Weideman
This small group will look at different topics addressed by God throughout the Bible. Topics will vary from the words we speak to the relationships we keep and everything in between. We will look at the instructions God gives us for everyday situations, and His wisdom on different aspects of our lives.
Times: Tuesdays at 3:30pm, Small group room 1
Every Man's Battle (Men only)
Taught by: Joe Belzer
Times: Mondays at 2pm in Small group room 2
