How did you come to be involved with CCH/campus ministry?
Immediately after High School, I discovered the wonderful world of campus ministry while a student at Truman State. After switching majors (and schools) - I was asked to return to Kirksville to head up the campus ministry there (Campus Christian Fellowship). Those 24 years were training days/months/years... and I learned so much about the Father's heart for the campuses of our nation. Jennie and I have been laboring here at MU since January of 2011.
Describe your ministry preparation and ministry experience.
Learning about ministry while doing ministry is one of the best "teachers" I can think of... but a B.S. in Christian Ministry also was a helpful foundation. I'm so thankful to the dozens of ministry partners who taught me millions of things. Jesus used them to "sharpen my iron" - and shape who I am - thus, shaping my philosophy of ministry.
Home church in Columbia?
Upon landing in Columbia in January - we have been loved on by the folks at Forum Christian Church... and our kids have met some of their best friends. We are so thankful for so many wonderful families there - but also through out the city who are chasing after our Lord. I guess I have a vision of what the Lord might do in uniting the pastors of this campus - and also in this city - who could link arms to pray/intercede for this city where we have found ourselves.
What do you like to do in your free time?
With 12 children, we often feel like our "old hobbies" have been over-riden by our love for our kids. When i have time, I love to lift/bike - and play the piano. My boys and I love to deer-hunt... and all of our kids love to swim. Jennie and I love to write and create. Out of necessity, the kitchen is one of my creative outlets... though my kids don't always enjoy eating my creations. :-)
Family life?
One phenomenal wife - Jennie... 12 remarkable children - (Josiah, Mariah, Maggie, Andy, Sarah, Lydia, Noel, Esther, Micah, Judah, Corrie, and Gracie) - and the blessing of all blessings - one grandchild - Aleyah Grace.
Time for people to connect with you during the week?
I try to keep my early mornings open for meeting up. I'll buy the coffee if you ever need to chat.
