CCH STAFF
- Campus Director
Lance Tamerius
-
Lance Tamerius is a campus minister and the director of Christian Campus
House, a mission of the independent Christian Churches providing housing
and ministry to students at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to
serving the Christian Campus House, Lance ministered with Willard Community
Christian Church in Willard, Missouri; Forum Boulevard Christian Church
in Columbia, Missouri; and New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Lance is passionate about Christ's ministry to and with college students
in part because of the impact that campus ministry had on his own life.
"I came to college with a family faith. I thought Jesus was a pretty cool
guy and I enjoyed occasional spiritual experiences, but I lacked a relationship
and commitment to him personally and to the work of his church. The ministry
of Christian Campus House and specifically, campus ministers Jim Bilbro
and Roy Weece, changed my life forever. I found a personal faith in Jesus
Christ to be what my restless heart had been searching for. Not religion,
but relationship with the Son of God."
Lance and his wife Pam have been married since June of 1987 and have been
blessed with five adorable children: Creighton, Alyssa, Garret, Noah and
Maleea. He is a long time Missouri Tiger fan, a St. Louis Cardinal fan,
enjoys reading, caring for his yard and mission trips.
- Campus Minister
Steve Hagemeyer
-
Steve Hagemeyer, a Mizzou CCH alumni and graduate of
St. Louis Christian College, was first confronted with Jesus by the changed
life of his brother David who had become a Christian while in college. Christ
living through David was so powerful that Steve knew he needed what his
brother had and began to reconsider his atheistic convictions. During the
first month of Steve's freshmen year at MU he committed his life to Christ
and has never been the same. He now lives his life with passion and purpose
for the work of Christ in campus ministry and the local church.
Co-worker Lance Tamerius says of Steve: "He has a heart that has been
shaped by Jesus and resembles Jesus' own heart. He is a friend of sinners
but does not want to leave them in that condition. He is a friend to all
who have needs and works to meet their needs completely. He is a strong
believer in the fact that people understand Jesus better when they do what
he says and care about those He cares about. Steve honors God as a husband,
a father, a minister, but most importantly as a 'sinner saved by grace.'"
Steve and his wife Alésha have been happily married since June 3rd of 2000
and have four children. Steve enjoys carpentry, disc-golf, hiking, and wearing
t-shirts that cost less than a dollar.
- Director of Women’s Ministry & Communication
Megan Garde
-
Megan Garde, director of women’s ministry and communication,
has been a friend of the Christian Campus House since spring of 2002, when she
attended her first CCH retreat at the Lake of the Ozarks. Megan grew up in
the church, having become a Christian in 1994, but the impact of Christian
Campus House in strengthening her faith and biblical wisdom has been phenomenal.
She remembers vividly when CCH alumni Michael and Colleen Ahland came to speak
about their Bible translation work in Africa. She had never before endeavored
to work in full-time Christian service, but the Ahlands’ testimony helped change
her outlook entirely.
Following this realization, she spent two summers working at Christ in Youth’s
office in Joplin, Missouri, and another summer as a core counselor to teens at
Camp Como, Colorado, where Jud Weece, former CCH campus minister, is the
executive director. She interned at the Christian Campus House in the 2005
spring semester and continued to work in the office the year thereafter. Having
graduated from Mizzou in 2006, Megan is overjoyed to be working full-time with
Christian Campus House, where she strives to “proclaim Him, admonishing and
teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect
in Christ” (Col. 1:28).
Megan loves spending time with the girls at CCH, reading, writing, looking up
words she doesn’t know, playing piano, baking pies, and spending time on mission
trips and at Camp Como.
- International Minister
David Sowers
-
David serves as a campus minister with a primary focus of
reaching international students for Jesus Christ. He has served, along with his
wife, Brenda, as a missionary to Thailand. After returning to the U.S. from
Thailand, he worked as preaching minister for Auburn Christian Church in
Illinois for several years along with adjunct teaching at St. Louis Christian
College. Since then he has been a teacher at Boise Bible College in Idaho and
Central Christian College in Missouri. Along with his campus ministry
responsibilities, he continues to preach for Blue Ridge Christian Church, a
congregation of Christians meeting in Columbia.
At a young age David came to understand the wonderful grace of God and was
baptized into Christ at the age of fifteen. “I had good Sunday School teachers.
They instilled in me a love for the Word of God and God has changed my life
because of it. I very much want others to come to know and love the God that I
know and love.” After graduating from St. Louis Christian College, he attended
Cincinnati Christian Seminary and met Brenda there. They were married in 1983.
He and Brenda have four children, Jonathan, Becky, Maria, and Nathan who bring
much joy to their lives. In the midst of ministry and kids, David was able to
(finally) graduate from Covenant Theological Seminary in
St. Louis with a Th.M. degree.
A long-time St. Louis Cardinals fan, he has also become a Mizzou fan since
moving to central Missouri. “The greatest loves of my life are my Lord, my wife
and my children. I enjoy woodworking, camping, and reading as hobbies.”
