“…Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?
“The king will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
-Matthew 25:37-40
At the Christian Campus House, we believe simple faith is not enough. Belief must be shown by deeds. A Christian life is incomplete unless it includes both faith and deeds (James 2:18). The Christian Campus House provides students with opportunities to share their faith through deeds in the name of the Lord. We encourage you to follow in the steps of Jesus and reach out to those who are in need and who need to know the love of Christ.
The following will acquaint you with ministry opportunities to children, international students, the sick, the elderly, the poor, those in prison, and widows. Each of these ministries is done with the desire to be God’s hands and feet to the world and to:
PROMOTE JESUS
PRESERVE FAITH
PRACTICE CHRISTIANITY
PREPARE STUDENTS
WIDOW’S MINISTRY
“The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.”
-Psalm 146:9
“Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.”
1 Timothy 5:3
MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:
Throughout scripture we are instructed to take care of widows. This is an exciting ministry because, not only do we have the opportunity to serve their needs, but many of these older women have a lot of wisdom and insight to pass on to the younger generation. Each week we will have the opportunity to serve their needs by: cooking, cleaning, doing yard work, shopping and a variety of other ways. Sometimes it may just be sitting down and enjoying a cup of cup of coffee together. This ministry is guaranteed to be a blessing to both you and the widow you serve. If you are interested in this ministry, contact Megan.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MINISTRY
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
-Mark 16:15
“That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
-2 Corinthians 5:19-20
MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:
This ministry will allow you to share the love of Christ with international students from 91 countries! By participating in the ministry, you will have the opportunity to be a part of events and programs including: a conversational program that pairs internationals and Americans, shopping trips with internationals, Journey to Bethlehem, Easter & Thanksgiving Dinners, July 4th BBQ, English classes, and small group Bible studies. If you are interested in this ministry, contact David.
PRISON MINISTRY
“I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
-Matthew 25:36
“Remember this: whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.”
-James 5:20
MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:
Students involved in this ministry will travel to the Vandalia Women’s Correctional Facility once week. Our ministry involves leading incarcerated individuals in worship, teaching them God’s Word, and providing Christian fellowship. The prison ministry meets every Monday 5-10pm. CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
“I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like the child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.”
-Matthew 18:3
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
-Matthew 19:14
MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:
About 480,000 cases of child abuse and neglect by parents is reported each year. That’s only abuse by parents. Many thousands more are victims of abuse by other family members, teachers, peers, etc. We believe that a child’s involvement with Christians will have a lasting and positive impact on his or her life. By building relationships with young people, we can help them know the love of Jesus. What if you could help those kids who are hurting or just need a positive role model? CCH offers you that chance!
CCH works with a non-profit organization called The Intersection. The goal of this organization is to promote the development of a healthy community by preparing the next generation (most children are between the ages of 8-14) to be responsible, committed members of society. The organization works on 40 aspects of a healthy child including spirituality. We’ll be do a short Bible study once a week for the kids, which will include music, a skit or game, and short lesson. As part of this ministry, you will be required by the Intersection to fill out an application. After the application is filled out, a background check will be done, and you will be part of an evening orientation.
If you are interested in this ministry, contact Megan. You will be required to fill out a volunteer application form and a background check, and orientation will be done by the Intersection before you begin.

-2 Samuel 4:4
“Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.
-2 Samuel 9:7
